Omni Band: A Cinematic Experiment - 2005
Omni Band was an experimental interface built around the band’s CD cover art, exploring cinematic UI design. It featured environmental effects like fog, rain, and fire, as well as dynamic lights that brought the static artwork to life. Layered visuals and mouse-driven scrolling added depth, while data-driven text elements were seamlessly integrated into the illustrated cityscape. This interface was more of a concept piece than a practical solution, serving as a showcase of what was possible with Flash at the time. While the design wasn’t intended for scalability, it was a key step in testing how cinematic elements could blend with interactivity. Omni Bands significance lies in its transitionary role. It laid the groundwork for the 2007 Cinematic portfolio version, where these techniques were used more purposefully to make art funcional. Though Omni Band itself was a small-scale demo, it helped refine idea that would later influence immersive interfaces on a broader scale by combining this interactive art piece with practical uses like business and content presentation
