Windows Azure "Layer Cake" Launch Graphic and Presentation Slides (2008)

Created the original graphical assets for Microsoft’s Windows Azure launch presentation at the 2008 Professional Developers Conference (PDC). Working from technically accurate but visually rough diagrams created by Microsoft's engineering teams, graphics were simplified and clarified for easier understanding and designed to match the largely undefined branding. Multiple slides from the official launch presentation, including the original Azure "Layer Cake" graphic, were created as part of this process.

The "Layer Cake" graphic visually defined Azure’s key components—Compute, Storage, and Fabric Controller—and was so early in Azure’s development that placeholders were required for services such as SharePoint and Dynamics CRM, which did not yet have finalized branding or logos. This graphic subsequently became widely used by media and technical publications as the standard reference to Azure’s architecture following its launch.
